PP&M: Blog entry 31
We have assessment coming up on Monday, I have spent the past week thinking about what to put in my PDP...and what my field of study is, and what that might be for my MA project.
With this project I have been looking at obscuring and altering text, and presenting the viewer with a new version of the text, a different way to look at things. In taking the text and focusing on one small part of it, it draws on the ideas of the people in the library searching for meaning where there is none and their obsessive quest.
I have realised that trying to change perceptions is common theme in my work. Whilst completing my BA, I was focused on pigeons, and trying to change peoples perceptions of them. (click)
I'm not sure what I will do for my MA project yet, although I have thought about following up some things that I started during this project. In the past I have worked around animals (and birds) and our relationships with them. In the Babel project I thought about working on something to do with the WWF or the RSPB's Red list, as these things really interest me. Although I'm not sure how this would tie in with the things that I would want to bring forward from this project, such as working with text and typography, although this does present an opportunity to work more with watercolour, which I am eager to do.
In this moth break before the beginning of the next semester, this is something that I want to look into. At the moment I am particularly interested in issues face British wild life; the Red List, badger culling, and issues surrounding foxes. I'm hoping to also be able to spend more time working with watercolour and to get better at this.
My MA project may be something completely different, as I'm unsure how I could (as of yet) relate any of this to a research question..) but this is something that I am interested in, and is an idea that I am considering working with.
