REALISATION: Blog entry 36

Today I've been selecting the colours that I will use through out my design, and on all my final patterns. Despite having done this when making my pattern stamp, I needed something for all my patterns, something that I can work for when designing my packaging and labels..fabric, stickers, etc. (the next step!).

Below are samples of each background pattern against the main pattern, and on their own (I need to test how these print, and alter the colours accordingly).

Looking at these, I didn't really like the colours..so I tried it out with just more browns, like on the initial pattern stamp. Although the patterns individually look nice; when compared you can barely notice a difference between the two (see below - al three background patterns are used here, and it's really hard to tell). I think I need the colour, to highlight the use of different patterns for different things.

REALISATION: Blog entry 33

Made a new pattern before it's even lunch time...I say new, just the black and white version of the one that I was meant to be making.
Here's some screen grabs of this pattern, and the individual images...now to start experimenting with all the variations, and come to a decision about which one I am going to use.
Yesterday, I was really pleased with the colour version of this pattern..and I was 95% sure that I would just go with that one, since it came out so well. However, now this one has turned out pretty well too. I just need to get one with the layering of patters and experimentation of printing on to different materials (etc.) and hope that it becomes clear, or at least easier to decide which one I should use for my out come.

Now I have this pattern completed (!!!) I can start experimenting with layering this with my background patterns, and playing with colours and materials...

Will do some more experimentations with different colours (etc.) later, just wanted to get these three in to give an example of the finished patterns.

REALISATION: Blog entry 30

Background patterns
I intend to use these patterns as I have in previous experiments, behind my main sparrows pattern (e.g Blog entry 22).
Everything I produce for my outcome will be linked by one main pattern (which I have yet to make/decided on) but the individual things will also differ slightly by use of these background patterns. I intend to use the sparrows in flight on the things such as feeders and food, the flowers on plant seed packets, and the insect in the things that will provide homes for and help draw more insects into the garden.

This use of silhouette is something that I have been working with, and experimenting with since early last semester (examples below)

REALISATION: Blog entry 29

I started making these last week, but didn't post; I'll be continuing with these today, and hope fully making my pattern stamp tomorrow. These are the individual images that will make up this pattern, a combination of two styles I had been working with, and a possibility for my final outcome pattern. This is a combination of these two styles;

I really like the simple black and white images, however, I dont thik that this stands out very well with my background patterns, and I'm not sure how well this will work on the brown paper I intend on using..I will still produce this pattern for the sake of experimentation (I could be wrong) but for now, I'm thinking I will probably be using this pattern...we'll see.
