Today I haven't made much work work, but I've been shopping for bits and pieces and been thinking more about my packaging. I started making these stickers - I haven't decided on the colours I will use through out my design so I haven't ordered them yet, but this is something that I intend to do tomorrow.

Although today I did order some test swatches of my fabric! Again, it isn't the finalised version of it, but it will give me an idea of how the colours will print etc., so that should get here in a week or so!
I also started to experiment with different types of packaging. I was starting to worry about how I would make my packaging...I thought that the simplest thing to do would be to just make a box, but then I wasn't sure how to get the right size, or how to get all the labels right, and how to get it on to card (etc.). I started looking around for ideas and help of how to do this and have it not look rubbish. Then I came across instructions for how to make a bag, which is what I initially wanted to have as my packaging for the bird seed. It turns out this is really easy and simple to make. I had a bash with some scraps of paper and they turned out pretty nice, so imagine what they'll look like when I'm trying to do them properly! I've decided to go with this idea; printing my pattern on to paper, and making the bags, and then printing separate labels and sticking them on later (simple labels, mainly front and back, or just one simple label).
I've also been playing with different ideas for my seed packets, so far though I'm thinking I will probably just stick with a really simple envelope design.
I will of course try all of
this again, with more care, when I have access to a printer (Monday..) but
until then, I need to start designing my labels. I need to get all of my
materials printed before the university closes for Christmas on the 22nd(!!!! SOON
!!!!). So the next 2/3 weeks will be spent designing, printing and making my
packaging.
I also think I've pretty much settle on using the colour pattern through out my designs. This means all of my pattern designs or very nearly done, I just need to settle on a colour pallet to go with this, and all of the accompanying background patterns, and then I can do things like order my stickers, and once I get my fabric swatches, make decisions about my final pattern I will use for this too!
Tomorrow, I will start designing my labels...thinking about the fonts and colour pallet I will use. I also need to finalise my colour pallet for all patterns...and the text that I will use across all of my packaging - part of this will need to be not far from what I will use as a personal/project statement (this is what I need to do for assessment, which is required to be 300 words, the one for my packing will probably be shorter)
