REALISATION: Blog entry 19

This morning I've started to get some of my ideas down, and generating, more imagery and pattern ideas so that I can fully experiment with everything before settling on one aesthetic to move forward with for my outcome.
This pattern is going to be the background for another pattern (possibly more) but while I was making it, I took a series of screen grabs to show how I have been making my repeat patterns.

I start with my initial images that will make up the pattern...

The dived the image into four, and rotate each section 180 degrees...

This create an image that will fit together when repeated with a gap in the middle...

To make the pattern flow, I fill in the central gap...

Then just copy and past this small section, again and again...

This is the easiest and simplest method that I have found to create a repeating pattern. Once you have your initial block, it is incredibly easy to just copy and past to create a large pattern, and to also keep layering different patterns.
